Ortho.i at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center with Focolare Movement
On December 20th, we had the privilege of volunteering at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center in downtown Dallas. In partnership with members of the Focolare Movement committed volunteers, we joined and sponsored the morning breakfast service, a small but meaningful gesture of solidarity with more than one hundred individuals experiencing homelessness in our city.
It was a powerful morning, not only sharing the breakfast, but also stories, smiles, and human connection. Because more important than feeding the body is bringing hope, kindness, and dignity to those who need it most.
What is The Bridge? Located in the heart of Dallas, The Bridge is a 24/7 Homeless Recovery Center that offers more than emergency shelter. It provides meals, showers, healthcare, care management, job assistance, and pathways to permanent housing for the adult homeless population in Dallas County.
A Public–Private Partnership Model The Bridge is a unique and effective example of a public–private partnership: supported by the City of Dallas, Dallas County, the State of Texas, and also by donors, nonprofits, volunteers, and community organizations. This structure allows for broad collaboration and sustainable impact, and it opens the door for other groups and individuals to get involved.

What is Focolare Movement?
Focolare is an ecclesial movement for spiritual and social renewal. Officially known as the “Work of Mary,” it was founded in Trent, Italy in 1943 by Chiara Lubich and her closest friends, and approved by the Catholic Church in 1962. The movement has now reached 183 countries, and more than 2 million people share closely in the life of the movement and its work.
Inspired by Jesus’ prayer, “May they all be one” (Jn 17:21), Focolare features a spirituality of unity, which has become a lifestyle for people of all ages and backgrounds. It transforms their lives and relationships, and by extension positively influences the social and ecclesial contexts where they live and work.
At Ortho.i®, a purpose-driven company guided by the World of Care initiative, we believe that kindness time, compassion, and action are essential to shaping a better future, not only for orthodontists, but for communities and society at large. This isn’t a side project; it’s the reason we do what we do. Impacting lives and driving transformation is at the heart of our mission.
